Hello, everyone! Welcome back to the #iNGREDiENTS podcast! In Episode 003, I talk with my long-time friend and self-made “Freedom-preneur” Matthew Harris. Matthew is an electrifying speaker, life enthusiast, and award-winning marketer who is passionate about helping others discover their true potential; unlock their purpose, and live a life that few dare to dream is even possible. His motto in life is to “dream – then find a way!”
During our discussion, Matthew addresses the question of the decade [what he does for a living] (3:00); losing his “9-to-5” job in Atlanta and the advice his mentor gave him (7:45); me meeting his brother Joel (and then subsequently him) and our high school/college years (14:05); as well as a near-fatal car accident that the three of us were in and the legal trouble that Matthew faced as a result of that (18:45). I share my recollection of the accident with Matthew and we both realize that there are pieces of the story that we had never shared with each other before (25:00).
Matthew then talks about some of the highs and lows of the various business ventures he pursued and how that helped him find his niche (30:30); his first business selling parrots in South Africa (38:10); how his relationship with his wife and the way that they support and empower each other has taken their lives to the next level (43:00); the dangers of pride, ego & success in business (51:00); why people are so skeptical of what he does (59:25); overcoming the fear of rejection & failure (1:07:00); what his ultimate goal is moving forward (1:10:45); and some last words of encouragement for those at different points of their journey (1:17:00).
